Startups generated at TOCIC-SPMVV

Dr.Venu Polineni, an innovator from SPMVV-TOCIC, developed a new generation nematicide cocktails to effectively target the plant parasitic pathogen, the root knot nematode Meloidogyne incognita. Dr. Polineni started Telluris biotech at Hyderabad which is an early stage Life sciences company with a focus to develop biological controls against root-knot and cyst nematode related plant diseases with the support of US $4 million (approximately Rs.2900 lakhs) from "Innovations In Food & Agriculture fund" USA.

Prof. V.V. Lakshmi from SPMVV-TOCIC developed an eco-friendly Keratinase Treated Formulation (KTF) that converts feather waste into cost-effective poultry feed and organic manure within a week—much faster than traditional composting. KTF reduces reliance on chemical fertilizers, aids in sewage management, and improves soil water retention. It has proven to be equivalent or superior to expensive fish or soybean meals in poultry nutrition. Sri Dharani Agrotech Pvt. Ltd., Hyderabad is currently involved in its application and scale-up.

Technology Transfer to Society

Mr. Kumar Velu, an innovator from TOCIC-SPMVV, Tirupati, developed a Jacquard Punched Card Reader to digitize traditional woven designs. This device enables the extraction of design data from old punched cards (120 or 240 Hooks) and supports flexible design conversions (e.g., 20/6 Hooks for 120, 30/8 Hooks for 240). The digitized data is stored using the FAT file system, allowing seamless computer interfacing and conversion to standard graphic formats like .BMP, .JPG, .GIF, etc. These designs can then be edited using any graphic software, preserving heritage patterns while enabling modern customization.
